I hate that I wasn't able to post yesterday..grrrr... but here is Sunday's picture. And it's technically Monday 12:01am! Eeeks. Anyways, here is Jaden, my son who turned 4 on Christmas day. He is very much into making such strange faces when my camera is out...and when I do get a good one (when I sneak up on him) his face is soooo dirty! lol... I am really working on crops right now, and conversions. I still need to sit and learn how to add actions that so many peas are using...another day. My settings are: Canon XTi, manual (i think, any way to know for sure??) iso 400 ss 1/60 ap 5.60....but I think my flash went off, because I have shadows (that really bug me too) ?! So maybe it was in auto... anyways, I'm off to see how many peas posted pictures today, or well, yesterday!

Oh...and I converted to B&W, adjusted levels a bit, and ran through noisewear!

I think your crop is nice. The conversion is just slightly muddy for my taste. See if you whiten the light strips in his shirt just a bit more. That should give your mid grays a wider range for variation and leave the muddy look.

I don't see a flash shadow. The only shadowing I see is ambient light. You want some of that. It gives the objects (in this case his face) dimension. It makes it look more natural and less flat. Don't be afraid of shadows!

Nice try for early manual work.

Love the crop! I agree that the whites might be able to be a little whiter which would make the picture pop a little more. Bu I really like it!

I like this pic. He's a cutie. BTW, from your post on my blog, my name is Haleigh. Nice to meet you too. I was looking through my 100 things post and realized it sounded a little negative. Is that the vibe you were getting too : )I think writing things like that is kind of like therapy to me.

love his eyes! that's what grabs me in this photo....:)

I am working on my bw conversions, too. it seems like there are a million ways to do it----'more contrasty', 'less contrasty', etc....

playing and learning....

Haleigh..... I'm going to write 100 things about me too! Thx for the inspiration :) No, didn't think you sounded too negative, just very honest! It was great, you have a good sense of humor too! I agree that writing things down is therapy in a way, no worries :)
