This didn't work out well!

There is absolutely nothing special about this picture. I took it today of 2 moose just off the hwy. It's not everyday I see them, and I was more excited then ever, and I'm not even sure if this was in manual or auto or what?! But here are the settings I do have. ISO 400 SS 1/125 Ap 5.60 flash Canon xti

It's so drab, what could one do to spruce it up a bit? (no pun intended!!)

Seeing Moose on the side of the road would certainly make me stop and look. Maybe croping the pic to focus more on the moose might help.

wow how cool. I'm not very good at photoshop but maybe a different crop and ligtening it up around the moose, or burning the surroundings a bit so he stands out a bit.

What a cool capture! I would try a quick USM and/or curves adjustment. If you aren't comfortable w/curves then a levels adjustment may do the trick as well.

OK, the "spruce it up" cracked me up! I would try the crop idea, with a "hard light" boost in photoshop.

Not sure about what to do but I would so do the same thing! Get all excited and pull over to take a photo!

I'd try a little different crop so he's not so centered. Also a little curves/levels would really give it the spark you're looking for. Nice shot! :)

What a great capture! I agree with everyone else on how to put more focus on the moose. He kind of gets lost with all the trees around.

I know how you feel! I struggle with trying to figure out exactly what it is I need to do. I think it's a nice picture...I'd like to see more of the moose, also. I'm envious of your setting, though.

I think it's a great photo and I struggle with the same thing! Maybe if the moose was not so centered and/or from a different level. It looks incredible though:)

Oh fun! I would crop the moose down towards the lower right hand corner. Give him room to move into the photo. Right now, I think he's just kind of lost in the trees.

How cool to get a shot like that. And I know what you mean. On New Year's Eve we saw 4 deer in the middle of the city. Of course I took a picture but it didn't turn out so well since it was pitch black outside. LOL

Thx for all the words of advice! I'm going to try and do some cropping and I will repost this tonight :)
