Ugggh

My pictures are really missing that special OOMPH quality to them :( They are so blah..Here is a pretty borring sign I saw today, but really liked the structure it was attached to. I loved the wood bridge, but feel like I failed to capture the texture of it, and not sure how to really acheive that. My settings were ss 1/200 f/8 iso 100 shot in manual mode, and then i did some selective coloring, to draw the focus more on the sign. Seriously need some CC guys.......... I'm just not finding the creative angles I should. ALL and ANY CC is so appreciated here, and I can handle it! Thx for looking!

But you see, I can see some texture! You will likely not get as much as you saw at this distance...go Macro :) and I bet you will!

Another thing you could try is shooting at a different time of day. Your lighting has a lot to do w/the capture of textures (shadows/highlights).

Mar thank you..... and yeah, I'm thinking about a macro. I'm having a hard time figuring out what exactly I'd like to shoot! I thought I'd be all portraits, but I honestly love landscape, and I'd like to get close and personal with tons of TEXTURE ;) So I'm not sure, still figuring out what kind of photographer I want to be when i grow up! Thx for your comments, I always feel so special to see that you visit my blog!

You know...it's really a pretty creative shot. Nice use of selective coloring and wide angle. I'm with Mar, can see some texture. If you want...you can always try playing around with shadows/highlights to see if that adds anything else, or maybe a conversion like urban acid, but it's pretty good the way it is.

I really like this shot! I am obsessed with a color pop tutorial that I found on ILP, these days. I can so see this done with that technique. The link is on my blog if you are interested.

i think this is pretty cool...i would have to second the ideas that have been presented already plus maybe play in the curves a little? that might give you what you want...great shot!

Adrienne I think it is great. I love the angle and the splash of colour. very cool. My DH is looking over my shoulder and he really likes it too. Although he did comment that he thought it didn't look real somehow. (he is a really tough critic, so you have done well). I agree with Mar, try a different lighting.

With the structure its attached to this would be a great candidate for the color pop technique. I think its a great pic! I think the composition is perfect! THanks for the cc about my blog. I guess I should put a note - that once you click on "Leave a comment" it brings up another page - but you can't tell really, but the comments are then at the bottom. Oooh.. maybe that's why I'm not getting comments :( I am going to try and change the set up again... Thank you thank you!!!

Adrienne thank you again for your nice comment. I think this is a great shot and agree with Barb about the color pop, check out her blog and give it a try, it was really easy to do and you have control over how dramtic you want it. Can you tell how Barb and I love this technique? lol

Maam, you are too close to the situation to realize...

Just kidding. I really love this shot. Maybe it takes a fresh eye to size up a photo. I find this shot really interesting. I especially love the texture and the lines!

Well, I'm another who loves it. Don't be too hard on yourself, I find it interesting, love the conversion and all the lines and angles going on.

I love the angles of this shot, although I agree that the textures don't come out as much as they could. Don't get down on yourself - we all get into a slump every now and then. Just keep at it and you'll find your groove again!
